A Message From Tina Perry
One day when my fingers were flying over my IBM
Selectric Typewriter, my daughter DiDi asked, “Mommy, how can you
type so fast without ever looking?” At that moment, I decided to
design a typing method that would allow any child to learn how to
type by following letters and colors, using the proper fingers.
I went back to basics, so that no CD’s are required to make full use
of the program. (The Kidz N Keyboardz system can even be used with
older computers.) The program’s simple lessons allow any children --
even as young as five years of age -- to quickly and easily learn
how to “touch type.” The system uses a computer keyboard with
color-coded keys that corresponded to temporary, wash-off colors on
the child’s fingernails. (The keyboard is included in the kit.)
A distinct advantage of the Kidz N Keyboardz program, compared to
other learn-to-type programs, is that any computer, no matter how
old, may be used. All that is required to learn this system is a
keyboard and a computer screen, to see what has been typed.
By mastering the Kidz N Keyboardz method, any child will be
able to compete in today’s challenging academic and business
environments. With so many recent headlines in the newspapers
proclaiming a “crisis in education” – and the government’s new “No
Child Left Behind” approach to education -- sharing the Kidz N
Keyboardz system with the important children in your life is one way
to make sure they are not “left behind” when it comes to education!
Sincerely,
Tina Perry, Founder |
How Does It Work?
Any child that can distinguish one color from
another, knows the alphabet, and can recognize numbers from 1 to 10
can learn to type using the Kidz N Keyboardz system.
Here are the 5 steps to get started:
1. Using the full size computer keyboard contained in the package,
the teacher (or parent) and the child press the color stick-on
labels onto the appropriate keys of the keyboard included in the
kit, a process that takes only a few minutes.
2. Using the WASHABLE marker pens included in the kit, the child’s
fingernails are painted with the 5 colors corresponding to the
color-coded keyboard.
3. Attach the keyboard to the computer.
4. Position the Lesson Plan (with its built-in easel) on the right
side of the keyboard..
5. Position the Keyboard Card on the left side of the keyboard.
That’s it! No CD’s – or any other complicated programs are required!

FAQ’s
Q. Won’t my child learn how to type in school?
A. Yes, most children are taught how to type in school – but often
not until the upper grades or in a computer lab. Most often when
young children are being “taught to use the computer,” they are
actually only being taught how to play games, not a method of “touch
typing” which will serve them throughout their educational life.
Q. What is touch typing?
A. Touch typing is the ability to type accurately, quickly, WITHOUT
looking at the keyboard.
Q. Why is “touch typing” important to a child’s learning process?
A. An ability to type quickly and easily will help a child with
homework, letters, e-mail and notes that are taken in class. Now
that the internet provides access to information on virtually any
subject a child may want to study, once using a computer keyboard
becomes easy and effortless, opportunities for learning become
literally unlimited.
Q. How quickly will a child begin to benefit from this program?
A. Every child is different, but focus groups have shown that most
children begin typing easily after just a few lessons. As a child
completes each lesson chapter, speed and proficiency improves
rapidly. |
